Police Lieutenant Colonel Janette Rafter, deputy director for operations of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), identified the arrested person as 32-year-old Glay Mabulay Caballes alias “Gloy-Gloy,” a resident of Sitio Riverside in the barangay.

Illegal possession of firearm

Charges of possession of illegal firearms and violation of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban will likely be filed against him, said the police report.

However, after Caballes was arrested, police found out that he was allegedly linked to a previous robbery case in the same area along with another suspect who was still at large.

Linked to Urgello Street robbery

Rafter said that police found out that Caballes was one of the motorcycle-riding suspects of a robbery that happened on September 15, 2023 along Urgello Street which was caught on a close circuit television (CCTV) camera.

Caballes was allegedly working with his cohort identified as a certain “Insik,” and was positively identified by the victims.

Rafter said that the case was still being investigated but it was found that Caballes was allegedly a known thief in the area along with his accomplice.

So again, murag naa nay mga insidente pud nga they are positively identified gyud sa mga biktima niining mga pampanghold-up nianang lugara,” said Rafter.

(They are allegedly notorious in the area because, aside from this, they had cases where they allegedly held up or that another one where they took the cellphone. It was also in that area. So again, it seems that there are also incidents that there were positively identified by the victims of holdups in that area.)

Mataho pud ang nahatibo kanila para mapasakaan natong additional nga kaso,” she said.

(To those who have been victims of thefts and whose things were stolen by these people, especially these persons, two of them who would ride a motorcycle, perhaps they can come here so that they can give additional information too. They can also report what happened to them so that they can file additional cases.)
