CEBU CITY, Philippines – Cebu City remains peaceful and orderly.

This was the assurance given by Police Lieutenant Colonel Albert Reeves Quilitorio, chief of the City Community Affairs and Development Unit (CCADU) of Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), following the different shooting incidents that were reported here in the past days.

Kanang mga [shooting] incident nga nahitabo, we will make sure nga ang atong pulis naa ta pirmi kanunay. Anytime nga mangayo silag moresponde or alarma, naa kanunay ang atong pulis,” Quilitorio said in an interview on Thursday.

And in order to deter criminal activities, they will continue to conduct mobile patrol, especially in areas where shooting incidents were recently reported.

This was also in accordance with the directive of Police Colonel Ireneo B. Dalogdog, the CCPO head, Quilitorio added.

Naa silay area of responsibility nga maglakaw-lakaw now and then para [mahibaw-an] nila ang area kung asa ang mga shooting incident nato.

Shooting incidents

Various shooting incidents were reported in Cebu City recently, two of which happened on Wednesday, Oct. 4., which resulted to the death of two individuals.

On Wednesday, a man described as an ex-convict was shot dead by an unidentified assailant while he was walking home in Sitio Proper Alaska, Barangay Mambaling.

A few hours later or at around 7 p.m., another shooting was reported in Barangay Capitol Site, wherein a motorcycle tandem allegedly killed a motorcycle rider who was said to be traveling home to Lapu-Lapu City.

Quilitorio said they continue to investigate the two shooting incidents to especially identify the killers and the motives behind the two killings.  Initially, police are looking at personal grudge as the possible motives behind the two killings.

They are now looking at closed-circuit television (CCTV) recordings of establishments that are located close to the crime scene hoping to find leads of the suspects.

Exercise caution

Meanwhile, Quilitorio is urging Cebuanos to always exercise caution when they are outdoors. They should also report suspicious activity in their respective areaa.

dcb
