Lapu-Lapu’s CDC approves P13B AIP

LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu – The Lapu-Lapu City Development Council (CDC) has approved the city’s 2024 annual investment plan (AIP) worth P13.810 billion.

At least P10 billion worth of projects and programs that were identified in the 2024 AIP will be funded from allocations coming from national government agencies while P3 billion worth will be funded from local funds, according to Councilor Annabeth Cuizon, the CDC’s acting presiding officer and head of the finance committee of the City Council.

Lapu-Lapu City’s 2024 AIP was passed during the CDC full council meeting which Cuizon presided on behalf of its chairman, Mayor Junard Chan, last Oct. 13.

The 2024 AIP will also be included in the agenda of the City Council during its session on Oct. 18 for the approval of the legislative body.

“For endorsement na sa city council for adoption and approval (ang AIP). After that, the annual budget for 2024 will follow,” Cuizon said.

The 2024 AIP will include programs that will be funded from the congressional funds of Lapu-Lapu City Lone District Rep. Cynthia King-Chan and which will be implemented under the Protective Services Program of national government agencies.

Among these, is the P10 million that will be channeled through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for the release of medical and burial assistance, cash for work, food assistance to indigent Oponganons.  Another P6 million will also be channeled to the Department of Health (DOH); P7 million to the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA); and P7 million to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) (TUPAD/GIP).

The P3 billion worth of local funds in the 2024 AIP will be spent on general services – P1.80 billion, social services – P663.65 million, hospitals – P348.2 million, development projects – P306.15 million,  economic services – P246.3 million, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management – P153.5 million, and market and slaughterhouse – P30.8 million.

Romeo Berame, head of the City Planning Development Office (CPDO), said during the CDC full council meeting that the P306.15 million that will be spent on local development projects will be sourced from the city’s share of the 20 percent national tax allotment (NTA), formerly known as the Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA).
