CEBU CITY, Philippines — Last November 21, the official Facebook page of the Sinulog Foundation Inc. (SFI) brought hype to the netizens after they updated their page with a new profile picture for Sinulog 2024, dubbed as, “Sinulog sa Sugbo Philippines 2024.”
On November 29, Wednesday, SFI Executive Director Elmer “Jojo” Labella shared with CDN Digital a brief explanation of next year’s Sinulog theme.
Labella said that it is because the Sinulog Festival in Cebu is the “mother of all festivals” in the country, and they are also planning to invite other cities outside Cebu to participate in next year’s Sinulog.

Better prepared for 2024
And while the discussion of the participation of the other festivals in the Philippines is ongoing, further details about this will be announced soon.
Labella also said that they are “better prepared” for Sinulog 2024 compared to their preparations for Sinulog 2023.
As of Wednesday, there are more than 20 contingents who showed interest in joining the ritual showdown. The official registration is on December 1.
Official route for grand parade
Meanwhile, SFI on Wednesday, shared with CDN Digital a copy of the official route for the Sinulog grand parade at the South Road Properties (SRP).
“Sa route nato ron, which is 4.1 kilometers, di na pariha sa una nga magsugat man to sa main SRP road. Karon katong road ngadto sa pond is actually being worked na sad and infra[structure] ato. It’s going to be wider, 20-meters wide, ongoing ang construction unya tuloy-tuloy na hangtud na ngadto sa showdown nga area,” he said.
(The route now, which is 4.1 kilometers, it is not the same as the first one where they will meet at the main SRP road. Now, that road there at the pond is actually being worked on and so is its infra[structure]. It’s going wider, 20 meters wide, the construction is ongoing and it will continue until they’re at the showdown area.)

New carousel route
The new route is dubbed as a ‘carousel route’ since this was what Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama wanted so that the dancers will not meet on the way (or opposite sides of the road) during the parade, an observation they noted from the Sinulog 2023 street dance route.
The schedule of activities for the Sinulog 2024 will also be announced soon as they have yet to finalize the program.
