PB asks safety nets for teachers due to K+12

The Cebu Provincial Board (PB) asked the Departments of Education and Labor and Employment to institute safety nets for teachers and non-teaching staff who may be displaced by the K-to-12 program.

“The only solution to this upcoming problem is to give them priority in the hiring of new teachers for the Grade 11 and Grade 12 and it is only the DepEd and the DOLE that can help them land in such jobs,” PB Member Thadeo Ouano said.

The K-to-12 Program of DepEd covers kindergarten and 12 years of basic education (six years of primary education, four years of junior high school and two years of senior high school.
