JAN GODFREY Seno of Bogo City, Cebu roared off to a blazing start in the 2015 Palawan Pawnshop-Palawan Express Pera Padala Regional Age Group Visayas Leg 4 tennis tournament yesterday at the Consolacion Tennis Club in Laray, Consolacion, northern Cebu.
Seno downed separate foes to advance into the next round in two different age categories.
The 15-year-old Seno blasted away Dave Brigole, 6-0, 6-0, in the premier Boys’ 18-Under division to book a seat in the semifinal round today.
He will be facing Joni Butcon, who defeated Troy Llamas, 6-2, 6-4, for a seat in the final round.
On the other side of the draw, Francis Lambayan secured a seat in the semis after he defeated Michael Aldueso, 6-0, 6-0, to arrange a semis battle versus Zudie Karl Balundo, a 6-0, 6-0, winner over Noelle Garces.
Seno also zoomed ahead into the quarterfinals of the 16-Under Boys’ division, where he’s also the top-seeded player, as he fired away 12 service winners and four service aces in shutting out Joni Earl Butcon, 6-0, 6-0.
Mandaue City’s Jhon Kenneth Tenepre, for his part, streaked past Harland Hogan, 6-2, 6-0, to advance into the quarterfinal round of the 12-Under Boys’ division of the Philta Group 2 tournament.
