Watch: Obama surprises 3 moms with Mother’s Day phone calls

What will you do if you answer a phone call and the President of the United States is on the other line?

That was the privilege that three mothers from Minnesota, Arizona and Florida had when President Barack Obama called them last week to wish them an advance Happy Mother’s Day greeting.

According to a report from CNN, Obama had individual phone calls with Stephanie Tarr from Minnesota, Dawn Miller from Arizona and Patricia Church from Florida to show his appreciation to their efforts as mothers.

The three mothers wrote letters to Obama during the past year.

“Hi, Patty? Hey, this is Barack Obama,” the call began. “No way!” Church replied. “Way!” the president responded.

Church told the Daytona Beach News Journal that her call with Obama lasted for a few minutes and that the president commended her for raising four children.

“I was so proud of everything you’ve done raising four kids and you know serving our country. Those boys are going to turn out good because of you,” Obama told the 50-year-old Florida mother.

“I decided that on Mother’s Day, I should call up some letter-writers moms to say thank you for being great moms,” Obama told one of the surprised moms.

The US president said told one of the mothers that they are doing “the greatest job there is.”

“I know how tough it is to raise kids and do right by them, and if it hadn’t been for my mother, I certainly wouldn’t be here,” Obama said, referring to his mother Ann Dunham who died of ovarian cancer in 1995.
