Nineteen visually-impaired therapists finally took their oath as licensed massage therapists after passing the recent licensure examination for massage therapy.

The oath-taking was held at the Poblacion Auditorium in Lapu-Lapu City.

Since 2012, the Area Vocational Rehabilitation Center II of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in barangay Labangon, Cebu City has facilitated four batches of massage therapy trainees to take the licensure examination.

The licensed therapists are assigned on a rotational basis in Megawide Cebu Airport Corp., Cebu Port Authority, Young Men’s Christian Association, Healing Hands, Cebu City Sports Center, Department of Labor and Employment, Qualfon, Convergys, Cebu Technological University and Helping Hands Organization of PWD, Inc. clinics in Park Mall, Colonnade Mall, Marina Mall, APM, E-mall and Grand Mall.

The income that they received helps them become economically independent. They are able to provide their basic needs and also send support to their families.
