Vitor to fight in “Kumong Bol-Anon 17” in July

CEBU CITY, Philippines — The PMI Bohol Boxing Promotions officially announced the schedule of John Virgel “Valiente” Vitor’s upcoming bout that will be held in his hometown in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.

Vitor will headline the 17th edition of the “Kumong Bol-Anon” boxing series of the PMI Bohol Boxing Promotions and PMI Bohol Boxing Stable that will be held on July 27, 2024, at the Bohol Wisdom School gymnasium in Tagbilaran City.

However, the PMI Bohol Boxing Promotions is yet to announce Vitor’s opponent.

It is expected that he will defend his World Boxing Organization (WBO) Oriental super featherweight title which he won last March 8, also in Tagbilaran City.

It was a hard-earned win for Vitor after he weathered a second-round knockdown against an equally determined Korean foe in Tae Sun Kim in the main event of the “Kumong Bol-anon XIV” at the Saulog Gymnasium.

Vitor scored a seventh-round knockout against Kim to win the WBO regional title and improve his record to 22 wins with 15 knockouts and three losses.

On top of that, Vitor breached the world’s top 15 in the super featherweight division. He is currently ranked No. 14 in the WBO’s latest world rankings.

He joined the likes of fellow Filipino and No. 6 Charly Suarez and fellow Boholano and No. 9 Mark Magsayo. The current WBO super featherweight division champions are Mexican Emanuel Navarrete and countryman Oscar Valdez.
