THE BARAKO Bull Energy Colas stayed atop the standings following a 123-114 win over the GlobalPort Batang Pier yesterday in the 40th PBA Governors’ Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.
Boosting their bid of earning a twice-to-beat incentive in the quarterfinals, the Energy Colas listed their sixth win against a single loss behind a monstrous performance by import Liam McMorrow.
McMorrow finished with 41 points and 27 rebounds.
Joseph Yeo also played superbly for Barako Bull after tallying 19 points and 10 assists.
Carlo Lastimosa and JC Intal both had 14 points for Barako Bull, which used a 9-0 run to turn a 95-97 deficit into a 104-95 lead in the final 5:48.
Jarid Famous fired 32 points and Terrence Romeo scattered 30 for GlobalPort, which dropped to 4-4 (win-loss).
In the main game, defending champions Star Hotshots posted their first back-to-back wins in the conference by holding off the Barangay Ginebra Kings, 89-82.
Star improved to 3-4, while Ginebra fell to 3-5.
