Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama will fire the starting gun in today’s 117th Indepence Day Solidarity Run of the Cebu City Sports Commission (CCSC) starting at the North Reclamation Area in Cebu City.
Around 250 runners have enlisted for the race that ends at Plaza Independencia.
According to the CCSC, they are still expecting bulk of runners to register today at the starting line near Bayfront Hotel.
The cash-rich footrace also serves as a charity event of CCSC. Proceeds of this race will be used for the construction of the new Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) at N. Bacalso Avenue.
The running event will feature 5-kilometer, 10k and 15k distances. Cash prizes will be given to the top 10 finishers of each distance.
The 15k champions, both male and female, will walk away with P10,000 each. Second-placers will get P7,000 while P6,000 goes to third-placers.
In the 10k race, the top placers will receive P7,000 each while the second and third-placers will get P6,000 and P5,000, respectively.
The 5k winners will go home P3,000 richer.
