THE Lapu-Lapu City government was cited for generating the largest revenue from local taxpayers in Central Visayas by the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF).
Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza flew to Dumaguete City last Monday to receive the award during the Regional Conference and Seminar Workshop conducted by the Department of Finance (DOF).
Lapu-Lapu City collected P1,203,155,240.00 in revenue from real property and business taxes last year, an increase from the P892,647,322.00 it collected in 2013.
“Our City Treasurer’s Office is collecting from even the small businesses and we do regular tax mapping,” the mayor said days after receiving the award.
Radaza said the city government uses its revenues to build better roads, develop tourism sites and promote Lapu-Lapu City as a premier tourist destination and investment haven in Cebu./Correspondent
