A MAN wanted for murder was killed in a shootout with police in barangay Pulpogan, Consolacion town, northern Cebu.

Vincent Vibar allegedly fired the first shots when operatives of the Consolacion Police Station and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team tried to serve an arrest warrant against him yesterday morning.

The warrant was issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Mercedita Ygnacio of Branch 28 in Mandaue City.

SPO3 Reynario Patillas of the Consolacion Police Station said one of the arresting team knocked on the door of the man’s rented shanty.

Police said Vibar opened the door  and fired shots using a .45 caliber pistol and hit PO3 Roy Minguito in the left palm.

Police returned fire and hit the man in different parts of the body. Vibar was brought to a hospital in Mandaue City where he was declared dead.
