Over 500 Cebuanos availed of free testing for the  human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS)  and attended a concert with Cebu’s biggest bands and DJs at Fuente Osmeña Park last Friday evening.

The #TESTED Free Testing and Concert was sponsored by the Department of Health (DOH-7) with Big7 Records and MiCab as part of a  campaign to raise  HIV/AIDS awareness in Cebu.

“We are promoting HIV testing so that it won’t be taboo for anyone to get tested. There is nothing wrong with knowing your status and being aware of what HIV/AIDS does,” said Boel Espinas, DOH-7 Senior Health Program Officer.

About 150 Cebuanos, lined up at the DOH tent to undergo free Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT).

Results of this  DOH-accredited procedure  are released to those tested within 30 minutes.

Central Visayas  ranks second among regions in the country with the most number of HIV/AIDS cases.//UP Cebu Intern Juli Ann M. Sibi
