The Cebu City Sports Commission (CCSC) continues on its mission to help less fortunate and troubled kids get into sports.

CCSC executive director Mark Rommel Alino said their office aims to give young Cebuanos a chance to use their energy in a more positive way through sports.

Alino said they have a project in partnership with the Philippine National Police (PNP) Station 2 and Department of Social Welfare and Development, wherein children in conflict with the law are brought to the Cebu City Sports Institute in barangay San Nicolas every Saturday for them to be exposed and trained in sports, lecture on values and responsibilities.

CCSC Chairman Edward Hayco said the project with the street kids has worked well so far.

“Since we begun, we’ve observed that the kids started out as very unruly and dirty. But once you recognize them for their talent, they feel more appreciated and become more responsible and tidy,” Hayco said.
