The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Mandaue City requested Mayor Jonas Cortes to the increase the annual financial assistance for senior citizens from P3,000 to P5,000.
Councilor Emmarie “Lolypop” Ouano-Dizon passed a resolution last Wednesday during their regular session.
In the resolution, she said the mounting expenses in medicines and other medical concerns of the senior citizens as their age advances make their monthly pensions, if they have any, hardly sufficient for their needs.
On Monday, Ouano-Dizon received a letter from the barangay chapter presidents of senior citizens requesting her to represent them in asking the city government to increase their financial aid from P3,000 to P5,000 annually starting this year.
