A WOMAN is facing trial for allegedly stealing P20,000-worth of beauty products from a mall in Cebu City.

The Cebu City Prosecutors’ Office found sufficient basis to indict Chona Ramirez on charges of theft.

Bail was recommended at P20,000.

Ramirez was caught stealing assorted beauty products at Super Metro in barangay San Nicolas, Cebu City last June 8.

When presented before Prosecutor Ma. Theresa Casiño after her arrest, Ramirez chose to undergo a preliminary investigation so she could submit her counter-affidavit and other evidence to refute the allegations.

But despite the period given by the prosecutor, Ramirez still failed to submit her counter-affidavit.

“From the allegation in the complaint, the undersigned submits that there exists probable cause to charge the respondent for theft,” said Casiño in her resolution.

The case against Ramirez was formally elevated to the Regional Trial Court in Cebu City last Wednesday.
