Garcia order stalls Dumanjug transactions

TRANSACTIONS grounded to a halt at Dumanjug town, midwest Cebu after suspended Mayor Nelson Garcia ordered department heads and municipal employees not to honor the signature of acting Mayor Efren Guntrano Gica.

“We were not able to transact any businesses… the employees even refuse to respond to my instructions or requests,” Gica said.

The vice mayor said Garcia’s order will disrupt the delivery of financial and medical assistance to constituents, gasoline for government vehicles, and even the release of employee’s salaries.

Garcia earlier said he will return to his office after receiving an order from the Office of the President confirming that the execution of his six-month suspension be stayed while he still has appeals pending before the office.
