Members of Cebu City Hall’s Probe team demolished a wall of a mall in Colon street that encroached the easement of Estero Parian, Friday.

The demolition of the wall of 138 Mall as well as the earlier relocation of 13 Tabo sa Banay stalls paved the way for the DPWH to conduct dredging and de-silting of the estero.

City Legal Officer Jerone Castillo, who heads City Hall’s Colon Revitalization Program, said the area has been identified as the chokepoint of floodwaters during heavy rains.

It’s the first time for DPWH to be able to dredge the area in more than 20 years.
