A 45-YEAR-OLD Iranian national was arrested for using a fake P100  bill to  pay for  cans of sardines he bought from a store in barangay Tinago, Cebu City.

Mahmoud Moghaggasi was arrested by barangay tanods, who turned him over to the Waterfront Police Station.

Police said the arrest was made when store owner Guadelyn Gajudo noticed that the man used a fake P100 bill.

After the arrest, Moghaggasi, who is studying in a Cebu City university, yielded  three  more fake P100 bills and five P50 counterfeit bills.

Moghaggasi denied owning the fake bills.

He said the  bills were given to him as change when  he bought goods from various stores.

Tinago barangay captain Joel Garganera said there had been several complaints in the area of the proliferation of fake bills.
