A transport leader said his group will consider filing a fare reduction petition at the regional Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

Ryan Benjamin Yu, chairman of the Cebu Integrated Transport Cooperative (Citrasco) said he will meet other operators, transport groups and drivers this week to discuss  details of the planned petition.

“I still have to get the final data on the oil prices but as what we have observed that it has been decreasing,” Yu said.

He said there’s no increase in the prices of spare parts.

“If there is really a need for fare reduction then we will support on it,” he added.

The minimum fare for Central Visayas is currently at P7 after a provisional order was signed by LTFRB chairman Winston Ginez.

The provisional order was in response to the petition for a 50-centavo rollback filed by by former Cebu City councilor Augustus Pe Jr. But 90 centavos will still be charged for every succeeding kilometer because it wasn’t covered by Pe’s petition.

LTFRB-7 regional director Reynaldo Elnar said that they will wait on the petition to be filed before their office.

“We will forward it (petition) to our central office then we will wait for the decision.
