RDAK, Gaisano Capital down foes

The RDAK Stallions got off to an early lead and kept it until the very end to complete a  63-53 win over the Filmon Prince Medallion in Division A action in the 20th Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association  Cup on Wednesday at the Ateneo de Cebu basketball courts along Mango Avenue.

The win placed the Stallions in second place behind Petron Goldberry, who have three wins without a single loss.

The Stallions asserted themselves in the middle periods and outscored Filmon, 33-18, to erect a 56-39 lead heading to the last canto.

Former Magis Eagle ace and current University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars Fletcher Galvez led the Stallions with 15 points while Jair Igna and Lucky Ecarma had 12 and 10, respectively.

Filmon, which got 25 from Jonathan Cimafranca, dropped to a 1-3 win-loss record.

In other games in Division A, Gaisano Capital survived a huge comeback try by the Cebu Landmasters and gained their second win in three games, 50-49.

Gaisano Capital got off to a blazing start as it led, 19-5, after the opening 10 minutes of action. But the Landmasters steadily crept back into the game and were only within five, 35-40, at the end of the third.

But Gaisano Capital displayed tremendous resolve and held on to the win while handing the loaded Landmasters their second loss in three matches.

Alfonso Doyon and Arc Gabrielle Araw-Araw led Gaisano with 11 apiece. Borgy dela Cruz had 12 for the losing side.

In Division B, Dynamic Power kept its record clean with a 55-34 thrashing of Caltex Delo.

Roderick Mangubat had 14, Theogene Lim scored 12 while Chad Go pitched in 10 for Dynamic Power, which scored its third straight win.

Wednesday’s playdate also saw reigning Division B champions RDAK Transporters outscore Autolab, 26-13, in the second half to author a 52-39 win.
