First Baptist Church (FBC) Christian School recenly celebrated their anniversary as a Christian institution that hones students both academically and spiritually last August 16 at their campus on 42 J. Alcantara Street, Sambag 1, Cebu City. Founded in 1986 to serve as a ministry arm of Ikthus Cebu that also targets to share the gospel to students and their parents, FBC Christian School is now on its 29th year of providing quality education for pre-school, elementary, and secondary students, said Ikthus Cebu senior pastor Noel Alvarez.
In line with the celebration, the school conducted an outreach program on August 15 at Sitio Kalubihan, Sambag 1 where at least 58 houses were destroyed during a fire incident that broke last August 2. FBC Christian School gave out hygienic kits contained inside casseroles to the displaced families.
On August 16, a worship service was conducted at Ikthus Church which was followed by a celebratory lunch attended by guests coming from OPASCOR, Converge Philippines, FBC Christian School PTA officers, and Sambag I barangay officials. A talent show was also held on the same day at the school’s social hall where their students, faculty, and staff were able to showcase their diverse talents.
Regarding the school’s vision for the succeeding years, FBC Christian School principal Vicente Bacus said that they are rolling up their sleeves to enhance the school’s educational facilities that will foster better learning. “As of now, we are upgrading our learning facilities for us to be more ready for the K+12 curriculum. We are also upgrading our vocational courses for our senior high school students,” Bacus said. More toys and supplementary learning materials for the pre-school students were also added to the schools facilities.
FBC also inaugurated its newly-built multi-purpose hall last August 16. The two-story building houses six classrooms and parking lots for the students, guests, and teachers’ convenience. Given all these improvements, FBC expects a ramp up on their enrollment rate next school year.
