NINE persons were arrested when operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas (CIDG-7) raided a hut which was used as a drug den in Danao City, northern Cebu.
Activities in the hut, located in a secluded area in barangay Maslog, were led by a certain Dodong, police said.
“There were more than 30 people in the hut but some of them were able to run away. It seemed like they were having a celebration,” SPO3 Roel Leyson said in Cebuano.
Arrested were Ariel Senico Quimbo, Erwin Navasquez Alvaracin, Awaimar Pilapil Pulmar, Nino Joy Bobo Robles, Joven Lansadera Morre, Franco Contecalvo Conde, Bonifacio Cabahug Jr., Dindie Pepito Tejero and Joseph Mag-usara Bensing.
The arrested persons were caught sniffing shabu, said police. Found in their possession were packs of suspected shabu.
Two large plastic packs, 35 small packs and drug-sniffing paraphernalia were recovered inside hut.
The seized packs were estimated to be worth P236,000, said Supt. Fermin Armendarez III, deputy chief of CIDG-7.
CIDG-7 operatives raided the hut around 11 a.m. yesterday based on the tip of a concerned citizen.
Morre, one of those arrested, admitted in an interview that he was a drug user. He identified Boboy and Dodong as the ones who maintained the drug den.
He said at least 50 drug users would visit the drug den each day.
Morre added the drug den had been operating for almost a year before the raid.
