17 families behind CCMC site need to clear out, transfer

By: Jose Santino S. Bunachita September 19,2015 - 02:20 AM

SETTLERS  at the back of the new Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) construction site were told to  start removing their structures.

Each of the 17 families to be affected by the project  already received P10,000 as financial aid from the  city government last Thursday.

City Engineer Jose Marie Poblete said the settlers should not wait for the city or the private contractor to take action.

“We’ve already marked the area where they should set back. We’re encouraging them to voluntarily demolish their affected structures so it will be less destructive,” he said.

After the 1.5-meter setback has been effected, Poblete said the families can still choose to stay in the area.

More road space isneeded for the entry of  heavy equipment of C.E. Padilla Construction to pursue phase 1 of the P600-million public hospital.

The contractor will use  the area for five to six months.

A new, sturdier wall will be built in place of the existing one.

Poblete said some owners have already started moving out.
