Rotary club targets 100 kids for free surgeries of cleft lip, palate
THE Rotary Club of Metro Cebu (RCMC) is holding another Operation Restore Hope medical mission that is expected to benefit some 100 children born with cleft palate and cleft lips on Oct. 12 to 16 at the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital in barangay Gun-ob.
The surgery will be conducted by a group of reconstructive surgery specialists, dentists and nurses from Operation Restore Hope, an Australia-based humanitarian organization which focuses on reconstructive surgeries to assimilate children born with deformities to mainstream society.
Dr. Vicente Balbuena, RCMC president, said this year’s Operation Restore Hope Mission hosted and initiated by the RCMC, is a joint project with the Lapu-Lapu City government through Mayor Paz Radaza.
The screening of patients will start at 8 a.m. to noon on Oct. 11 at the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital.
Parents of children with harelip and cleft palate and other similar facial deformities are advised to go to the screening venue or contact RCMC secretariat head Mimi Acasio at (0922) 7996237 or (0928) 5077390.
