Top team FEU eyes 10th win

THE FAR EASTERN University (FEU) Tamaraws will try to tighten their grip on their lead in the standings as they move closer to securing a twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four when they tangle with the dangerous Adamson Soaring Falcons in the 78th UAAP men’s basketball tournament today at the Mall of Asia Arena.

FEU is currently reigning over the league with their 9-1 (win-loss) card.

The squad is coming off a 71-67 victory over the feisty University of the East (UE) Red Warriors, a win made possible by the clutch shot-making of Cebuano forward Roger Pogoy and fellow Bisaya Mac Belo. The duo had 10 points each in the final canto to turn back the hard-fighting Red Warriors last time out.

Standing opposite the Tamaraws today will be a team with the same qualities as their last  opponent – the Falcons – who are coming off a morale-boosting 75-74 win over the La Salle Green Archers, a win they pulled off despite trailing by as many as 16 points.

This game will also see a match-up between bestfriends and former Southwestern University (SWU) teammates – Adamson’s Joseph Nalos and FEU’s Monbert Arong.

The two were key cogs in SWU’s 2012 title-winning squad here in the Cesafi.

Meanwhile in the second game, the defending champions National University (NU) Bulldogs will try to keep their hopes for the next round alive when they tackle the Green Archers.

NU is teetering at the edge of elimination with its 4-7 card.
