Half-day work for Capitol; No parking near cemeteries
THE Cebu provincial government will have a half-day work schedule today to give employees time to prepare for their annual observance of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day on Nov. 1 and 2.
Most employees head to their hometowns to visit the graves of departed loved ones and for family reunion.
“We are expecting a lot of people who will be going home starting today until Monday. We are asking for additional policemen to ensure that there will be no untoward incident,” Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III said.
The governor will be inspecting the Cebu South Bus Terminal today.

He assigned the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) to oversee intervention for emergency cases.
Dennis Cortes, PDRRMO operations chief, said safety nets are in place for the annual observance.
“During the Holy Week observance last April, there were so many people who came here. A similar setup is in place,” he told reporters. PDRRMO personnel will handle crowd control tomorrow.
In Cebu City, the Cebu City Traffic Operations Office (CCTO) will enforce a “no parking” rule on streets near cemeteries.
Councilor Dave Tumulak, who heads the Cebu City Disaster Risk Management Council, said ambulances and fire trucks are also on standby for emergencies.
