THE Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas (DSWD 7) has recognized a Magahat as the youngest Barangay Sub-Project Management Committee (BSPMC) chair from the municipality of Basay.

Joseph Pablo, 23, a Bukidnon Magahat Tribe member of barangay Cabatuanan, Basay leads the committee under the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS) program.

Pablo said his being a volunteer and also being a BSPMC chairman has changed him a lot.

“This is the biggest responsibility ever in my entire life,” he said.

However, he said, with all the trainings he attended in the Kalahi program, he accepted it as a challenge.

DSWD 7 program coordinator Venice Polancos said Pablo played a great role in the implementation of farm-to-market road in Cabatuanan, the farthest barangay in the town.

“Finishing the project has brought out the best in each of the volunteers, especially in Joseph as the BSPMC chair,” said Polancos.

Kalahi-CIDSS trainings have given volunteers the knowledge, and enhanced their skills and capabilities, Polancos said.
