Bantayan tracksters shine in Prov’l meet

Athletes from the Municipality of Bantayan displayed their dominance in athletics after bagging three gold medals, four silvers and three bronze medals in the ongoing 2015 Cebu Provincial Sports and Cultural Meet in Dalaguete town, southern Cebu.

Winners for Bantayan were Daniel Batarilan, who dominated the 3000m steeplechase competition clocking 10:36:89; John Dominic Limplado, who won the shot put event in secondary boys’ division; and Jolina Marfa, who topped the high jump in secondary girls.

The silver medalists for Bantayan were Jose Belly Garcia, (3000m steeplechase); Lexie Kim Villaver (secondary girls’ discus throw); and Jay Ralph Quinatadcan (elementary discus throw and shot put). Bronze medalists were Chylle Jay Aronales, Kristine Tabarno and Junalyn Paragsa.

The municipality of Daanbantayan, meanwhile, were second in the medal standings with one gold, three silvers and two bronze medals followed by Catmon, which had two golds and one silver.

Meanwhile, the drum and bugle corps secondary contest was won by Balamban while Catmon and Minglanilla topped the vocal solo in the elementary division and drum and lyre palabas elementary competitions, respectively.

Winners in this multisporting meet will make up the Cebu Province team for the Central Visayas Regional Athletics Association meet.
