By: Apple Ta-as December 04,2015 - 12:46 AM

A 35-year-old mother  died from severe  blood loss after secretly giving birth at home in barangay Talamban, Cebu City.

Her family and neighbors didn’t know  Maribeth Longcob Tacda was pregnant until she was brought to a hospital where she later died.

Relatives later found a  male fetus believed to be eight months  old in a metal water drum inside the  rest room of the house.

SPO2 Ruth Violango said one of the Tacda’s children sought help from neighbors when he saw his mother bleeding in the crotch last Wednesday morning.

Tacda was already unconscious when she was brought by her siblings to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC), said Laura Mayol, barangay worker of Talamban.

Tacda’s older sister Imelda told police that they were shocked when they were told by the doctor that Tacda  had just given birth which explained the bleeding.

Imelda said they were unaware that Tacda was   pregnant.

Even Tacda’s husband, a school bus driver, said he didn’t  know that his wife was pregnant.

The couple has three children.

Relatives were later asked to search the house to find the newborn.

During the search, Tacda’s younger son Gilbert noticed that water in a drum had traces of blood.

Gilbert first saw used clothing inside and found a fetus at the bottom of the drum.

The fetus  was wrapped in a towel.
