A preventive suspension order has been issued for Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama in relation to the demolition of a center island in barangay Labangon in 2014.

Cebu Daily News learned from official sources that the order was recently signed by the Office of the President and will be served by the Department of Interior and Local Government regional office (DILG-7) in Cebu as soon as a certified copy arrives anytime tomorrow or Friday.

Labangon barangay captain Victor Buendia, who filed the case, said he hasn't received a copy of the order. Here he showed photos of City Hall team demolishing center island and street lighting project in Labangon last year.

Mayor Rama is en route to Cebu from Paris where he attended the Climate Change conference.

His clearance to travel abroad issued by the DILG central office was for Dec 2 to 11.

Rama’s phone was still off when CDN tried to call him for comment.

In a press conference, Labangon barangay captain Victor Buendia, who filed the case, said he hasn’t received a copy of the order.

Once the order arrives it will be the task of DILG Regional Director Rene K. Burdeos to serve it, the same role he played when he served the 6 month suspension order of then Cebu governor Gwen Garcia at the Capitol office in December 2012.

Burdeos said they have not received a copy of the order but once they do, they will check what it says and carry out appropriate action.

Burdeos said they will be the one to serve the order as part of their mandate.

Burdeos would not confirm or give details about the order which CDN sources said is on it’s way to Cebu.

Barangay captain Buendia said there is still a pending civil case in the RTC which he filed against Rama.

Mayor Rama is expected to return to Cebu to attend the opening tomorrow of Robinsons Galleria Cebu in the North Reclamation Area.
