By: Apple Ta-as December 15,2015 - 01:48 AM

To prevent indiscriminate firing during the holidays, members of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas simultaneously sealed the muzzles of their firearms during the flag raising ceremony yesterday.

Chief Supt. Manuel Gaerlan, acting chief of PRO 7, led the ceremonial taping exercise.

“They are only allowed to fire their guns in legitimate encounters or during their call of duty,” said Gaerlan.

Other offices like the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) and other police units follow suit.

PRO 7 also launched its operation against banned and illegal pyrotechnics and fireworks.

The regional police is coordinating with the Bureau of Customs to apprehend the transport of high-powered fireworks in Central Visayas.

The South Road Properties (SRP) is the designated area for Cebu City for selling fireworks while the coastal areas of barangay Babag is identified as the selling area of firecrackers in Lapu-Lapu City.
