Children of overseas Filipino workers receive kiddie loot bags during the OFW Family Day at The Terraces in Ayala Center Cebu.
Around 1,600 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families flocked to The Terraces in Ayala Center Cebu to attend the OFW Family Day organized by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration in Central Visayas (OWWA 7) last Dec. 5.
Regional Director Exequiel Sarcauga welcomed the participants and thanked them for supporting the activities of the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) and its attached agencies.
OWWA Deputy Administrator Josefino Torres thanked Filipino workers abroad for their contribution to the country’s economy.
Torres said the annual observance of OFW Family Day was about “giving honor and recognition to OFWs and their families every December, when most OFWs take a vacation and spend time with their loved ones to celebrate Christmas.”
Actor Richard “Sir Chief” Yap entertained the crowd with his song numbers.
Several festival and pop dances were performed by the University of Cebu Dance Company.
Three sets of raffle draws were held.
Winners brought home prizes like home appliances, groceries, gift certificates and bank deposits.
The first 200 OFW children who arrived at the venue were given loot bags.
Before the event ended, OWWA Regional Director Wilfreda Misterio thanked everyone, especially those who traveled a long way from different cities and provinces of the region to attend the event.
