At least 150 houses went up in smoke last night as fire ravaged a densely populated community in barangay Quiot Pardo, Cebu City last night.
Fire investigators initially estimated the damage at P1 million. No one was reported injured or killed. SFO2 Lowell Opolentisima said the narrow roads made it difficult for fire trucks to penetrate the interior portion of the community.
The fire alarm was raised to Task Force Alpha, which called for other fire stations nearby to respond.
Opolentisima said the fire may have been caused by an unattended lamp or electrical misuse.
It was tapped at 6:15 p.m. and raged on for more than an hour. It was declared under control at 7:34 p.m.
The structures that were destroyed were made mostly of light materials.
