There’s a sense of pride and fondness we associate with things that started right in our backyard and have since grown with renown. Such is the case for Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC), which humbly started right here in Cebu, has since extended its reach nationwide, and has now returned to its roots with its biggest shopping mall outside Metro Manila, Robinsons Galleria Cebu.

Recognizing that mallgoers have a special place in their hearts for all things homegrown, Galleria Cebu adds to its tenant mix beloved food brands that hail from various regions in the country. Most of these dining establishments have likewise chosen Galleria Cebu as their first mall setting to cater to their customers.

Now found on the ground floor Verandah of Galleria Cebu, The Chocolate Chamber grew from but one cacao bean in Balamban to an elevated chocolate maker sought for its exquisite artisanal cacao products. Mallgoers now have easy access to those mouth-watering comfort treats that highlight special moments and life’s simple joys.

Bringing tasty and affordable Mexican cuisine are restaurateurs Mariles Alvarez-Nable and Marco Nable. Their family has been active in the local hospitality industry for 40 years. Their frequent travels to Mexico inspired them to open Pueblo Mexicano and its street food counterpart Boca by Pueblo. By January 2016, moviegoers will now have quick and savory antojitos to go with their viewing as Boca by Pueblo can now be found at Movieworld, on the 4th floor of Galleria Cebu.

Azabu Japanese Restaurant, which has established itself as the go-to place in Lahug, Cebu City for some authentic sushi and teppanyaki dishes, has found its second home on the second floor veranda of Galleria Cebu. “Our menu boasts a genuine selection drawn from Osaka and Tokyo, Japan,” said Joy Nishikura, owner of Azabu, “but our success started right here in Cebu, when we decided to move and live in this lovely city.”

Other homegrown food joints that are taking center stage in Galleria Cebu are: Dumaguete’s pasalubong favorite Sans Rival Cakes & Pastries; The Buzzz Café by Bohol Bee Farm, with its fresh, healthy, and organic dishes; and Fat Cow Burgers and Malts (opening January 2016), with its hearty, American-style selection.
