A man and his 31-year-old son were fatally shot by still-unidentified assailants in barangay Amatogan, Tuburan town, northern Cebu.

Police are looking into a land dispute as possible motive in the killing of Vicente Buhawi, 53, and his son Erwin.

PO2 Ariel Maravillas of the Tuburan Police Station said the two came from the municipal public market and were heading home when they were attacked last Friday.

The father and son rode separate motorcycles. Erwin had his live-in partner as backrider.

A few meters from their house, the victims got off and  decided to push their motorcycles as the road leading to their house was too steep.

The woman said the father and son were walking ahead of her when gunshots rang out.

The woman later found the bloodied bodies of both men  slumped on the ground.

Vicente was shot in the forehead, while Erwin was shot in the mouth.

Police said two empty shells for a .45 caliber pistol were recovered at the crime scene.
