Cops seize P600K shabu, nab 5 men
Illegal drugs worth at least P600,000 and two guns were confiscated while five men, including a man aspiring to be a police officer, were arrested in four separate raids in Carcar City, Cebu City, Talisay City and Lapu-Lapu City in the last two days.
The Carcar City raid in southern Cebu last Friday netted the biggest haul of illegal drugs with police confiscating 5 medium packs and 29 sachets of suspected shabu worth P354,000.
Criminology graduate Tereso Bacon and his cohort, part-time disc jockey, John Mark Bolasco were arrested during the buy-bust operation in Sitio Kamonggay, Barangay Poblacion.
Senior Insp. Joey Bicoy of the Regional Anti-illegal Drug Special Operations Group described the two suspects as new drug players, which had been operating for at least five months in the area.
Bicoy said the two were considered level 2 drug pushers, who could dispose of at least 200 grams of shabu in a week.
Bacon was caught handing over a sachet of illegal drugs to an undercover policeman inside a shanty where Bolasco was repacking the suspected shabu.
Police also scored big in the Cebu City buy-bust operation when they arrested a level 2 drug pusher and confiscated 5 assorted packs of suspected shabu weighing at least 25 grams and worth at least P220,000.
Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas (CIDG-7) also arrested Joy Lopez in the buy-bust operation at Sitio Laguna, Basak Pardo at 1 a.m. yesterday.
Another raid in Barangay Cansojong, Talisay City in southern Cebu on Friday evening resulted in the confiscation of 16 small sachets of suspected illegal drugs worth at least P47,000 and the arrest of Russel Canton.
Police also confiscated from Canton a .22 caliber Black Widow revolver with three bullets, a .45 caliber pistol with four bullets and P1600 cash believed to be proceeds of his illegal trade.
Also on Friday, Lapu-Lapu police confiscated 65 small sachets of suspected shabu worth at least P30,000 and arrested Kim Berdon during a buy-bust operation in Purok Five Star, Barangay Babag, Lapu-Lapu City.
Berdon was detained at the Lapu-Lapu police station pending the filing of charges.
