Toni Gonzaga, AlDub, DongYan and Coco Martin lead Anak TV Seal awardees

GMA Network’s Primetime King and Queen Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera, phenomenal loveteam Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, ABS-CBN’s Toni Gonzaga, Coco Martin, Alex Gonzaga and Janella Salvador led the awardees present during the Anak TV Seal Awards event held yesterday morning.

Toni Gonzaga and Kim Atienza personally received the Makabata Hall of Fame for “consistently topping the annual surveys for the past eight years.” The other awardees for the Hall of Fame were Ted Failon and Kim Chiu.

According to the Anak TV website, the four awardees join the Hall of Fame that includes Gary Valenciano, Mike Enriquez, Mel Tiangco, Julius Babao, Korina Sanchez, Jessica Soho, Sarah Geronimo, Bernadette Sembrano, Angel Locsin and Karen Davila.

For the annual Boto Ko ‘To survey, male personalities who were chosen the most “credible, wholesome and worth emulating by the youth” are Boy Abunda, Atom Araullo, Drew Arellano, Dingdong Dantes, Noli de Castro, Enrique Gil, Luis Manzano, Coco Martin, Vhong Navarro, James Reid, Alden Richards, Vic Sotto and Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle.

The same recognition was given to female personalities Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo, Kathryn Bernardo, Kara David, Alex Gonzaga, Vicky Morales, Maine Mendoza, Sen. Grace Poe, Marian Rivera, Lea Salonga, Janella Salvador, Sen. Miriam Santiago, Charo Santos, Liza Soberano and Jodi Sta. Maria.

In a post on his Twitter account, ABS-CBN’s MJ Felipe who received the award for Abunda, said Coco Martin topped the votes among the male awardees while Maine Mendoza garnered the highest votes among the female awardees.

The Anak TV Seal Awards is done annually to recognize selected personalities and programs that are child-sensitive and family-friendly.

As stated in their website, the iconic seal on Philippine television is bestowed by parents, teachers, non-government organizations (NGOs) and other sectors of society on television programs which in their “estimate, are wholesome and child-safe.”

“It is a seal not found anywhere else in the world, Anak TV being a movement that flourishes only in the Philippines,” as read on their website.

Anak TV is run by officers led by Elvira Yap Go, president; Leng Raymundo, vice-president; Ma. Teresa Pacis, secretary; Mag Cruz Hatol, Secretary General; Ed Roces, chairman with Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski as official spokesperson. The foundation is at the forefront of a media literacy campaign that diligently goes to the grassroots.

There are 123 programs recognized as family-friendly after nine months of evaluation. The INC TV leads with 23 seals followed by ABS-CBN national and regional stations with 20 seals.

GMA News TV and GMA Network receive a total of 21 seals, NET 25 with 17, UNTV with 16, Light Network with 11, PTV with 10 and TV5 with 5 seals.
