STALWARTS of Team Joeric Boxing scored big in the professional and amateur scenes when Lenmar Priscillas and amateur fighter Richard Rama pulled off separate wins in Masbate and Lingayen, Pangasinan, respectively.

Priscillas on Wednesday defeated Big Yellow Boxing Promotions’ Eddie Estibat in a come-from-behind-fashion, while Rama won gold in the 56-kilogram division of the boxing event in the recently concluded Philippine National Games (PNG) Finals in Lingayen.

The 21-year-old Bukidnon native Priscillas was the underdog against Estibat and was knocked down twice in the second round.

Priscillas, however, came out strong in the third round and then floored Estibat  in the fourth to steal the win.

“He really fought with his heart out. We didn’t expect that he will bounce back strong and win the fight. I see a lot of potential with this kid, and we hope that he will continue to learn and develop his skills,” said Priscillas’ handler Joeric Calisang.

Trainer and coach Mike Edsel Tuñacao said he saw big improvement from Priscillas, who sports a record of two wins and a single knockout.

“His opponent was very strong. I don’t know how he managed to escape that kind of fight, it was brutal, I think this kid got a lot of courage I told him win or lose, we are proud of him because he was able to entertain everyone that night,” said Tuñacao.

Priscillas is one of the seven pro boxers handled by Calisang and Tuñacao, including Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) super lightweight champion Rodel Wenceslao (10-11-1,3Kos).

Wenceslao is set to see action against Romeo Jakosalem in the undercard of April 23’s major fight card at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) pitting WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire Jr. and Zsolt Bedak.
