NAGT tilt opens in Danao

THE National Age Group Triathlon (NAGT) blasts off today at the Danao City Boardwalk with 250 triathletes from various age groups competing.

A total of 150 triathletes will join the triathlon event while around a hundred will be competing in the aquathlon tace.

The participants of the recent National Grassroots Talent Identification Program for triathlon held at the Plantation Bay Resort in Mactan will also take part in the aquathlon event.

The aquathlon race features 600-meter swim and three-kilometer run for racers 16 to 19 years old; 400m swim and 2K run for kids aged 13 to 15 and 11 to 12; and 200m swim and 1K run for kids in the 9 to 10 and 7 to 8 years old divisions.

Meanwhile, the triathletes will battle it out in the sprint race which features 1K swim, 30K bike and 7.5K run. The age groups in the men’s division are 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54 and 55 and above.

The distaff side will have 13-15, 16-24, 25-35, 35-44 and 45 and above.

The overall champion in the sprint race will win P5,000 while P3,000 and P2,000 will go to the runners-up. The top three finishers in every age group will receive a medal.
