By: Julit C. Jainar March 19,2016 - 10:05 PM

TWO houses were totally burned and two others were partially destroyed in the fire that struck Sitio Mabapu, Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City yesterday afternoon.

The fire broke out at 1:48 p.m. and was put under control at 2:28 p.m.

Senior Fire Officer 1 Lowel Opolentisima of Parian Fire Station said the fire started at the house of Marcelina Bacaresas Atillo.

Opolentisima said they were having  a hard time reaching the fire scene since the road was too narrow and the house where the fire started was in the interior portion.

SPO4 Joel Suelo, desk officer of Mambaling Police Station, said witnesses saw Mark Jovan and Jordan Bacaresas, grandsons of Marcelina, creating a fire inside the house of their grandmother.

“Gibadlong na sila sa ila ra pud nga parente nga dili magdaob sa balay kay masunog unya, apan wa nipatuo, mikatap ang kayo kay naay foam tapad sa ilang gidaoban (They were told by their relatives not to create fire inside the house but they  did not listen),” Suelo said.

The damage of the fire was pegged at P16,000.

Jovan and Jordan are now detained at the Mambaling Police Station. Police are still waiting for the fire victims to file charges against them. No one was hurt in the incident.
