Crimson Resort & Spa Mactan has received the halal seal and certification for its kitchen from the Halal International Chamber of Commerce and Industries of the Philippines, Inc., the body that certifies and protects the Halal process.
The resort is the only hotel in Cebu, Boracay and Bohol to receive the certification, which was awarded during the Madrid Fusion on April 7 in Manila.
The certification effort started late last year, as part of the Department of Tourism (DOT) project to help hotels and resorts secure halal certification in preparation for the influx of tourists and travelers from Southeast Asia and Middle East, following the new direct flights to Cebu.
“We’re very excited to see where this effort will take us, given the growing potential for Muslim tourists globally and we are very pleased that Emirates Airlines now have direct flights from Middle East to Cebu,” said Crimson general manager Kristofer Quadros.
“We’re also positive that we can get more Muslim tourists from Southeast Asia and we’re doing our part to facilitate efforts for more visits from the region on short haul flights,” he added.
The resort’s halal-certified kitchen will serve food in Tempo as well as for in-room dining.
Apart from the halal kitchen, Crimson Resort is also working on its Crescent certification.
While this is an on-going project, it has started delivering Muslim-friendly rooms to its pre-identified Muslim guests, fitting the rooms with Koran, Kiblat signs which provides prayer direction, payer mats and a specialized compendium providing prayer times, Mosque locations and nearby halal restaurants.
