A traffic enforcer here was shot dead by a still unidentified assailant, a few meters from his home on Urgello Street in Barangay Sambag 2, Cebu City past 8 p.m. on Saturday.

Michael Garces, 40, was shot in the right armpit but the bullet exited the left side of his body, hitting his heart, said PO3 Alberto Diamante, Cebu City homicide investigator.

Garces was rushed to Sacred Heart Hospital on Urgello Street but was declared dead on arrival by physicians.

Diamante said they had yet to determine if the killing was related to the job of Garces as traffic enforcer.

But he added they received reports that the victim was not in good terms with his uncle following a dispute over some pieces of property.

Residents claimed that his uncle was seen in the afternoon around the area, said Diamante.
