12 injured in vehicle mishap in Tuburan

TWELVE persons, mostly political supporters, were injured when the truck they rode in figured in an accident while passing through a hilly road of Sitio Bangkobangko, Barangay Sandayong, Tuburan, located 96.7 kilometers northwest of Cebu City.

SP03 Vincent Aguanta, investigator of the Tuburan Police Station said, the victims were headed home from the town proper to Barangay Kalangahan riding the Isuzu Elf truck owned by Sonny Lagon, husband of Tuburan mayoral candidate Daphne Lagon of One Cebu, when the accident occurred at past 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Barangay Kalangahan is located more than 10 kilometers from the town proper.

Aguanta said the 24-year-old driver Mark Anthony Ablaña, was making his way  through an uphill road when the truck experienced a mechanical problem and he lost control.

The truck ran backward until it rammed into a tree. Aside from the driver, the injured victims were Leonilo Molejon, 56; Jesselyn Barquilla, 24; Amelia Bragat, 39; Brenda Romo, 27; Neckey Molejon, 19; Wilma Molejon, 41; Lera Molejon, 13; Arlene Bragat, 40; Julito Molejon, 36; Marcelina Densing, 39 and Rico Densing, 12.

The victims were all brought to Tuburan District Hospital, but Leonilo Molejon and Barquilla were transferred to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.

The rest of the victims were discharged from the Tuburan hospital.
