Three men charged with robbery, homicide for elderly couple’s death
CHARGES of robbery with homicide were filed against three men accused of robbing and killing an elderly couple in Toledo City last month at the Cebu Provincial Prosecutor’s office.
Suspects Lito Sabroso, Michael Laboga and Victor Alcantara were arrested by police last April 26 while in hiding in Alcantara’s home in the mountain barangay of Sinsin in Cebu City.
Sabroso and Laboga are neighbors of Juanito Cepayla, 76, and his wife Margarita, 67, whose bodies were found with several hack wounds inside their home in barangay Loay in Toledo City last April 20.
Police said the couple lost cash amounting to P50,000. “There was a relative who saw the three suspects hacking the victims.She positively identified the culprits,” SPO3 Alfredo Barquin of the Toledo City police.
Barquin said Alcantara has a pending arrest warrant for murder while Laboga and Sabroso are known street toughs in their barangay.
Barquin said the three suspects are now detained at the Toledo City police precinct mini-cell while waiting the issuance of a commitment order for their transfer to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) facility in Toledo City.
