A FORMER barangay chairman who survived a shooting inside his home is placed under hospital arrest after police found out that he has a pending arrest warrant for a drug case.

Joselito “Dodong” Labella of Barangay Papan, Sibonga town was with friends Fredirick Flores and Ryan Antigua, both 29-year-old residents of Dumanjug town at his home when the shooting occurred.

Police said armed men broke into his home and fired shots at him, hitting his left leg. The 42-year-old Labella managed to escape through the back door and was brought to the hospital while the armed men ransacked his home.

PO3 Hermie Pananganan of the Sibonga police said Labella was later placed under hospital arrest after they learned that he escaped arrest during an anti-drug operation by the Dumanjug police.

Pananganan said they recovered a .45 pistol and an empty shell from Labella’s home. He said they are looking into personal grudge as the motive for the attack.
