THE Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles scored their second win in a row after they outlasted the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Baby Panthers, 69-60, in the CloudFone Batang PBA Cebu leg yesterday at the Magis Eagles Arena inside the Ateneo de Cebu campus in Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City.

The home team actually started off sluggish but mustered just enough firepower down the stretch to hack out the victory. Coco Tuadles led the Magis Eagles with 17 points while Maynard Uy added 13.

Ateneo de Cebu was ahead by a matchstick at the start of the fourth, 53-52, but surged ahead, 63-55, after free throws from Tuadles and John Aguilar and a lay-in by Maynard Uy. A basket by Kyle Ochavo gave USPF some life as it trimmed the deficit to six but Josh Fuentebella put the game away with a putback off his own miss to give Ateneo de Cebu a 65-57 cushion, two minutes left.

Gabriel Cometa paced the Baby Panthers with 16 markers while Christopher Isabelo and Winston Ynot chipped in 14 each.

In the first game, the University of San Carlos (USC) Baby Warriors also got their second win with a hard-earned 64-61 win over the much-improved Don Bosco Technical College Inc.

Steven Mendoza had 18 to lead the way for USC while Clint Octaviano added 12.

Christian Boyboy had 20 for the losing side.
