INCUMBENT Tuburan Mayor Democrito Diamante won by only a 46 vote margin against challenger Daphne Lagon based on results released by the municipal Board of Canvassers Tuesday morning.

Diamante received 17,140 votes while Lagon received 17,094 votes.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has proclaimed the winners in Tuburan town at around 9 a.m.

Tuburan is among the eight hotspots due to intense political rivalry.

One of Diamante’s supporters, Rene Cangmaong, was shot dead in an ambush allegedly by one of Lagon’s community leaders Luduvico Roquero last Wednesday.
