Settlers at Osmeña shrine seeks restraining order

SETTLERS that built 15 structures at the Osmeña Shrine in barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City filed a case for damages against City Hall last Thursday.

Acting City Legal Officer Eleodoro Diaz said the settlers also sought a temporary restraining order against the demolition of their shanties at the Regional Trial Court branch 5.

Last May 27, Cebu City acting Mayor Margot Osmena ordered the clearing of all structures at the 4.2 hectare Osmeña shrine.

They were given until June 13 to vacate the area.

The demolition starts the following day, June 14.

Osmeña said they willl wait for the court’s decision on the settlers.
